چکیده

Background: Studies have found that multiple neurobiological mechanisms are underlying the cause of Posttraumatic stress influence nervous and immune system leading to neurodegenerative psychiatric comorbidities. The present study aims assess evaluate serum Cortisol, C - reactive protein (CRP), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Brain-Derived Neurotropic Factor (BDNF) levels cognitive decline among subjects with trauma exposure determine relationship between above-specified biomarkers. Methodology: Two groups (including natural disaster, any accident, physical and/or verbal violence, or stressful condition) in last twelve months were recruited. Groups majorly divided based on TSC-40 (Trauma Symptom Checklist 40) scores. Subjects a TSC score > 40 kept traumatized group, while those < included control group. A total 188 above age 18 recruited following inclusion criteria, cognition was measured using Six-Item Cognitive Impairment Test (6-CIT), samples obtained for cortisol, CRP, BDNF, IL-6 levels. Results: There significant difference BDNF (P<0.001) level subjects, i.e. 15.68 ± 3.55 ng/dl as compared controls 26.65 2.47 ng/dl; no CRP (ns) both slight increase controls, 4.29 1.50 mg/dl vs. 3.42 1.11 mg/dl. As indicated by 6-CIT score, more pronounced 8.54 2.13 group 5.0 1.81, positive (p<0.001). Conclusion: finding suggests traumatic is associated decline, whereas non-significant association

Interleukin-6 and C-reactive protein as predictors of cognitive decline in late midlife

OBJECTIVE Peripheral inflammatory markers are elevated in patients with dementia. In order to assess their etiologic role, we examined whether interleukin-6 (IL-6) and C-reactive protein (CRP) measured in midlife predict concurrently assessed cognition and subsequent cognitive decline. METHODS Mean value of IL-6 and CRP, assessed on 5,217 persons (27.9% women) in 1991-1993 and 1997-1999 in th...

Changes of Interleukin-6 and brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels following acute plyometric training among inactive men

ABSTRACT Introduction: Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) plays an important role in transmission of nerve impulses, plasticity, growth, and generally in the health of nervous system. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is involved in immune and inflammatory responses and is produced by immune cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, skeletal muscles, and fat tissues. The aim of this study ...

Relations of serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein and interleukin-6 levels with silent brain infarction.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Small silent brain infarction (SBI) is often found on magnetic resonance (MR) images of apparently healthy individuals at cardiovascular risk. Particularly, small SBI found in subcortical white matter, basal ganglia, or thalamus is thought to be caused by cerebral small vessel disease. Although several lines of evidence suggest a role of inflammatory processes in atheroth...

C-reactive protein, interleukin-6, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha levels in overweight and healthy adults.

This study aimed to 1) compare levels of high sensitivity c-reactive protein (hs-CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) between overweight Thais and apparently healthy controls, and 2) investigate the association between serum hs-CRP, IL-6, and TNF-alpha levels and other biochemical parameters. A total of 180 health-conscious adults aged 25-60 years, who resided...

C-reactive protein and interleukin-6 levels in the early detection of infection after open fractures.

PURPOSE To measure C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels in 30 patients with open fractures and correlate the levels with infection. METHODS 29 men and one woman aged 9 to 70 (mean, 37) years presented with open fractures of the upper or lower extremity within 12 hours of injury and underwent debridement and external fixation 3 to 40 (mean, 16) hours after injury. Serum CRP...
